PASSLOCK I & PASSLOCK II
If your key looks like the one pictured below then you were directed to wrong page. Please send me an e-mail. In the e-mail please state what type of car that you do have so that I can fix the link to assure that future uses with the same car as you do not get directed here. Again, if your key looks like the picture below you were mistakenly directed here. To be taken to the correct page please click here. Also if you were directed here by anybody other than ebay user "go-audio" please send me an e-mail. It took me quite a bit of time to put all of this together and it wouldn't be fair for someone to just take it from me.

If you were directed here via the links and you key does NOT look like the one pictured above then chances are that you have either passlock or passlock II in your car.
How it works: Introduced in 1996, GM has changed the VATS (the key in the above picture) anti theft system to the newly revised Passlock system. This is a similar device to the VATS system, in that there is a resistor present during the start cycle. However, in the PASSLOCK system, the resistor has been placed inside the ignition switch, instead of the key. To remotely start a car with this feature, you must bypass this PASSLOCK system.
How to bypass it: To remotely start a car with this feature, you must bypass the PASSLOCK system. In order to properly interface this or any remote start system with this car you will need to bypass this while the unit is in "remote start mode." In order to bypass this you will need FOUR relays ($5.00 EACH). PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS DOES NOT MAKE YOUR CAR ANY EASIER TO STEAL NOR DOES IT DECREASE THE LEVEL OF SECURITY THAT THIS "CHIP" PROVIDES. If you do not bypass this the remote start will NOT work properly. Also please note that needing this part has nothing to do with the brand of remote start that you are purchasing as ALL BRANDS OF REMOTE STARTS INSTALLED IN THIS CAR WILL NEED TO BYPASS THIS VATS MODULE. This price of $20 is by far the cheapest that you will find any where. The only kit that Best Buy sells to bypass this costs $50. As always if you have any general questions or specifics about a certain car please e-mail me.
